After a 2 month gap owing to a little wind and rain that
seemed to put people off we are expecting a good turnout for the November Men’s
Breakfast walk on the 10th November.
I’m pleased to report that the Tors is definitely open and running and Kevin is expecting us at 9am after a brisk walk up Belstone tor or at least a nearby hill starting at 8 am. You have a couple of weeks nearly to get used to the change from summer time so will have to make that extra effort to get out of bed in time.
Added attraction is the craft fair in the Belstone Village Hall that day so you can get the wife a present to compensate for your lengthy absence.
December location is not decided yet but the date is 16th December which is the weekend before the weekend before Christmas so gives you an excuse not to go off to Exeter with the wife shopping. You can be a normal man and leave it to Christmas Eve which is a Monday so shops should be in full swing.
Men’ Shed News.
December 15th is 3 years and 1 day since the inauguration of the Okehampton Men in Sheds operation.
The Men’s Shed will be having another wine and carols evening sometime before Christmas. This year with electric light hopefully. Date TBA.
The shed is getting quite busy and is thinking of starting an additional day, possibly Thursdays. Even if you are a DIYphobe you should come along one Saturday or Wednesday for a cup of tea which tends to happen about 10am and 1pm. We now have a clock so have a better idea when those times are. There is no obligation to stay so you can safely come along for a short chat. If you need to meet someone in Okey why not suggest meeting in the shed instead of under the station clock or perhaps take a walk up the valley from Simmons Park then back by road from the viaduct passing the shed.
